Core Functions

Arising from its mandate, the college core functions are to:

  • Train teachers for early years and middle school.
  • Implement delivery of diploma in early childhood teacher education (DECTE), diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) and upgrade in both DECTE and DPTE curriculums.
  • Enhance uniformity in the development of teacher education support materials,
  • Enhance innovative development of quality assurance and standards tools for teacher education programmes,
  • Increase effective and efficient evaluation of teachers in training through class assessment (CA) and school based assessment (SBA).
  • Enhance promotion of research in teacher education and training,
  • Provide an enabling environment for quality teacher training,
  • Get involved in the formulation of teacher education curriculum and related activities.
